Joshua (Josh) Scott Taylor was born on November 23, 1981, during a snowstorm in Alexandria Minnesota, the son of Vernon (Skip) Taylor Jr and Jean (Tvrdik-Taylor) Nelson. He graduated with highest honors from Jefferson High School, Alexandria in 2000 and his undergraduate education in Pittsburgh, PA. He received a BA in political science with a minor in history and a BS in Economics graduating with honors. He continued his education in Boulder, CO. Ultimately, earning his JD licenses to practice law in Colorado and Minnesota which gave him the title of Joshua Scott Taylor Esquire. After college he returned to MN and became employed at a company in Fergus Falls called Zero Variance as an Accounts Manager, which included supervising employees. In 2024 Zero Variance was brought by a larger company called Ubiquity, a Customer Experience and Business Intelligence provider where he was again an accounts manager/compliance lead.

Josh spent his years in college enjoying learning, ending up on the deans list six times. He studied environmental law in Colorado. He loved nature and the universe who wanted it to be protected and preserved far into the future. Josh loved all creatures, especially birds. He loved traveling to places where bird migration was the largest and the best. He would take pictures and share them with others who enjoyed the same hobby. Josh was a sensitive soul who loved his independence but showed great empathy for others. Reading was his favorite past time; he loved books before he could read and never wanted a toy as a child but desired a book instead. This love of books followed him into adulthood. Josh would never have hinted he had a great voice but those close to him may have heard him hum on and off, his favorite song was Simon and Garfunkel’s – Sound of Silence.

Josh died on January 10, 2026, at his apartment in Fergus Falls. He is survived by his parents, his grandmother (Marie Taylor), along with numerous Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces and Cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: David & Geraldine "Geri" Tvrdik; paternal grandpa, Vern Taylor Sr.
