John Wesley Peter Bosek was born on May 17, 1929, in Lowry, Minnesota the son of John and Josephine (Brosh) Bosek. He attended Lowry school through the 8th grade. John served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on December 3, 1954.
John was united in marriage to Arlene Adelle Olsen on June 22, 1959. To this union six children were born. John first job was working on the family farm and then worked for Wagner Trucking. He learned masonry skills from his Uncle Mike and became an Independent Masonry Contractor in 1957 and continued with Masonry work for the next 60 years. During these years he completed the masonry work on many of the original commercial buildings in Alexandria.
In his early years John played baseball for the first Army Team in 1953 out of New York and was on the ground floor of Snowmobile racing (driver of the year in 1969). He played horseshoes, bowled and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
John also enjoyed playing football with his children, going hunting and fishing with the family, and attending over 60 years of snowmobile races driving or as “pit crew” and watching all the different sports of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles, Sportsman Club, and Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.
John died on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He is survived by his daughters: Kathleen (Daryl) Rittenour; Deborah (Charles) Revering; sons: John Bosek, James (Julie) Bosek, Thomas Bosek, Jeffrey (Karen) Bosek; grandchildren: Cameron Rittenour, CalieAnn Anderson, Makayla (Reed) Christensen, Samantha (Rory) Beckman, Charles (Tammy) Revering, Daniel Revering, KayCee (Anthony) Sanborn, Natasha Bosek, Crystal (Josh) Guetter, O’Ryan Bosek, Anakin Bosek, Thomas Bosek, Trey Bosek, Teryn Bosek, Kaisa Bosek, Ryker Bosek; step grandchildren: Mike (Susan) Rittenour, Tom (Jessica) Rittenour, Darin (Kristy) Rittenour; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, all those he loved and touched deeply.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene; grandson, Cory Rittenour; parents: John and Josephine; brothers: Floyd, Dennis; sister, Marlyss Nelson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a Time of Remembrance at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 23, 2022, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Kinkead Cemetery.
