MIltona

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joel Bradley Blank, who left us peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the age of 72. Joel was born on October 4, 1952, in Alexandria, Minnesota, and spent much of his life dedicated to his family, community, and passions.

A proud graduate of Osakis High School in 1970, Joel continued his education at Alexandria Technical College, where he studied accounting, graduating in 1972. Shortly after, he was drafted to serve his country, in the United States Army. He served from September 1972 to September 1974, primarily assigned to the HHC at Fort Wolters and later to the 543rd MP Company, where he worked as an orderly room clerk typist. Joel took great pride in his service, particularly the Army Commendation Medal he received, and he fondly recalled the opportunity to see the gold bullion at Fort Knox.

After Joel was honorably discharged from the United States Army, Joel helped farm his family's century farm near Belle River, MN. He then spent 28 years with the maintenance crew at the Alexandria Golf Club, followed by 18 and a half years at Windmill Ponds Senior Apartments.

At the age of 42, he discovered a passion for golf, spending countless hours on the greens, and shared in the joys and frustrations of being a Minnesota sports fan. Joel was also a devoted caregiver to his parents for over 30 years, embodying the true meaning of family. He was an active member of Fahlun Lutheran Church, serving on the church council for many years, and took on the role of president of the Carlos Prairie Cemetery Association. In addition to his many roles, Joel found solace in the outdoors as an avid deer hunter and enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles. His warm smile and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joel is survived by his loving siblings, Vivian Blank, Paul Blank, Daniel (Kathleen) Blank, Marilynn (Arthur) Coleman, Roger (Julie) Blank, and Karla (Brian) Myres; nieces and nephews, Greg (Dorinda) Blank, Kris Blank, Stewart (Marisol) Blank, Cindy Blank, Patrick (Jean) Coleman, Shannon (Michael) Edler, Alicia (Michael) Klimek, Patricia (Bruce) Wiitanen, Grant Myres, Kevin Myres, and David Myres; niece, Tonia McClure; cousins; and many many friends.

Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Friebert and Elvira Blank; brother, Douglas Blank; nephew, Andrew Blank; and nephew, Jimmy McClure;
