JoAnn Clark Erickson was born on October 28, 1933 to Theodore and Myrtle (Lund) Clark in Alexandria, MN. She attended public school in Alexandria, graduating with the class of 1953. From there, JoAnn attended St. Cloud Teachers College at the University of MN and went on to teach in Minnesota, California, and Oregon for a total of 37 years.
In August of 1965 JoAnn married Richard Erickson, a fellow U of M graduate. Together, they were blessed to celebrate over 50 years of marriage before Woody’s passing in 2018. They visited all 50 states, as well 50 countries. They traveled by RV, riverboat, cruise lines and travel groups -- especially Elderhostel. They took turns picking destinations; their mutual favorite was New Zealand.
JoAnn loved people, especially her inherited daughters: JoAnn and Lori. She also cherished her neighbors, cousins, and all the unique humans on this planet. Friendship was a wonderful part of her life. JoAnn passed away at her home in St. Paul, MN on May 19, 2026.
She will be missed by many relatives and friends. There to welcome JoAnn into heaven are her husband, Richard “Woody” Erickson; parents, Ted and Myrtle Clark; and brother, David Clark.
Two celebrations of life for Joann will be held. The first will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at St. Paul United Church of Christ (900 Summit Ave, St. Paul, MN), beginning at 10:30 AM with a short visit one half hour prior to service. A funeral luncheon will follow.
The second, will be held at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN (659 Voyager Dr NW, Alexandria, MN) on Saturday, July 11, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Kinkead cemetery.
