Jerry Lee Anderson passed away at his home on April 13, 2026. Born on June 20, 1950, to Henrietta and Harvey Anderson, Jerry grew up locally on the family farm in Rural Barrett and graduated from Barrett High School.
On May 23, 1970, Jerry married Barb Hansen at the Lincoln Lutheran Church in rural Hoffman, Minnesota. Together with Barb they raised their two sons, Scott and Michael, with an abundance of love. Above all else, the most important thing in Jerry’s life was his steadfast commitment to his family. The couple shared 41 wonderful years of marriage until Barb’s passing in 2011.
Jerry’s strong work ethic was a constant throughout his life; he spent the majority of his working career at United Building Centers / Probuild in Alexandria, Minnesota.
When he wasn't working, Jerry's favorite times were those spent with his wife and boys. For many years, the family spent their summer weekends making memories at the "family" cabin on Red Rock Lake, joined by extended family and friends for days filled with fishing, swimming and barbequing. In their later years, Jerry and Barb loved traveling together with friends, with their Alaskan trip being one of their favorites.
Jerry truly loved being part of deer camp. He got his sons hooked on deer hunting at very young ages, establishing a deep tradition where the three of them continued to hunt together—alongside other family members—straight through this past season. For Jerry, he didn't care if he harvested a deer himself but simply wanted to soak in the camp atmosphere and "go out for breakfast." That love for a good morning meal carried over into his retirement, where eating breakfast at the Northwoods Cafe with his friends became one of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his friend Chris.
Jerry is survived by his two sons, Scott (Kari) Anderson of Hoffman, Minnesota and Michael (Tori) Anderson of Alexandria. He will also be deeply missed by his two grandchildren, Harper and Harvey Anderson of Hoffman, Minnesota; Siblings: Vickie (Daryl) Bergerson, Larry (Debbie) Anderson, Robin (Mike) Bonasera, Sheri (Tim) McCluney and brother-in-law Roger Rosby
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barb, his parents Henrietta and Harvey, his siblings, Diane Rosby, Lorie Anderson, Tyrone Anderson and numerous in-laws.
A visitation will take place from 4-6pm on Monday, April 20, 2026, with a brief service to follow at 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria, MN.
Interment will be in the Lincoln Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hoffman at a later date.
