Jeffrey Carl Solum was born to Carl Anton and Dolores Pearl Solum on July 24, 1952. He grew up on Government Point Road on Lake Le'Homme Dieu in Alexandria, MN. He graduated from Jefferson Sr. High School in 1970. Jeff enlisted and served in the Army from 1972 to 1974 in Alaska.
He is preceded in death by his father Carl and mother Dolores. He is survived by his son Shawn Solum, mother of Shawn Cookie Trisco, grandchildren Seth and Emily Solum, sister Carla Wussow (Arlen), brother Steve Solum (Brenda), brother Bryan Solum, Aunt Joan Hinrichs (Don), Uncle Paul Olson. Nieces and Nephews Jeremy, Sara, Megan, Ashley, Leah, Carl, Kelly, Steven, Luke and Adam. And many great nieces and nephews who he loved.
Jeff worked as a carpenter in and around the Alexandria area for many years. His most recent job was driving truck for CHS in Herman, MN for many of the surrounding farms.
His passion was being in nature, which could be on a lake fishing alone, or with his fishing buddies, in a deer stand or a duck blind in the woods. He gave the gift of time as a fishing guide to many Disabled Veterans on Lake of the Woods for many years. This was not only a gift to the Vets but gave him much joy also.
His faithful dogs Little One and Ginger were always by his side.
Jeff will be dearly missed by many. Perhaps his legacy would be "Do what you love and love what you do"!
