Jayne Lorraine Schmidt

Jayne Lorraine Schmidt, born on May 31, 1951, in South Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2025, at the age of 73. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and those she loved.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Jayne pursued a career in nursing, completing a training program at Fairview Hospital. Though health issues led her to leave the program after only a short time, she began her career as a Nurse's Aide, a role she fulfilled for two years before dedicating herself wholly to her family. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Jeffty Schmidt, and together they built a beautiful life, celebrating over 53 years of marriage.

As a homemaker, Jayne poured her heart and soul into raising her three sons: Jacob (Laura), Brian, and Lucas (Renita). She was not just a mother but a nurturing presence who created a loving environment in their home. Her culinary skills were legendary, and she loved hosting family gatherings, ensuring everyone left with full bellies and happy hearts. Jayne delighted in spoiling her grandchildren—William, Haleigh, Westley, Owen, Edward, and Silas—instilling in them the sweet tradition of her one rule: kisses before ice cream.

Jayne’s talents extended beyond the kitchen. She was a gifted designer, renowned for her ability to create home blueprints, skillfully crafting the plans for both houses her family lived in throughout the years. Her creativity and passion for design were evident in every aspect of her life and home.

Family was at the center of Jayne's world. She had a deep love for her relatives, frequently cherishing moments spent with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Jayne is remembered not only for her unwavering support and dedication to her family but for the warmth and joy she brought to all who knew her.

In addition to her beloved husband and sons, Jayne is survived by her brother, Steven. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held in Jayne’s honor on May 19, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Bethesda Lutheran Church, located at 1204 N Nokomis NE, Alexandria, MN.
