Janice Ann Eiken, née Anderson

Jan was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Don of 69 years and her son, Steve (Jennie), preceded in death by her oldest son Ken (Char). She was the proud grandmother of 4; Eric (Giulia), Madeline (Atticus), Luke (Mackenna), and Julia, and recently welcomed her first great grandchild, Hayden.

She was born in a log cabin at Leaf Mountain, MN on November 16, 1933, to Friedolph and Victoria Anderson. She attended a one-room country school for 8 years and then attended high school in Alexandria, MN. After high school, she attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and started working.

She married Donald Eiken on April 20th, 1957. She and Don moved frequently with the US Navy allowing her to study at Pensacola College and Georgetown University studying history, ethics and business. She was also trained in military protocol. She used those skills while working in Honolulu and Taiwan. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, seeing and experiencing many places in Europe, Southeast Asia, and across the Midwest and Western U.S.

Jan had a strong Christian faith and loved music. She volunteered and sang at whenever the opportunity presented itself in churches throughout her life. She enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and doing counted cross-stitch.

Jan was a humble soul, with an incredible memory of people and places. Although she always thought of herself as a “country girl”, she was sophisticated and good judge of character. She always valued listening over speaking.

She will be missed, and never forgotten…
