James C. Hotvedt, the eldest child of five to Kenneth and Verna Hotvedt, was born on September 13, 1942, in Hoffman, MN. James attended many schools in his early years as his father was in construction. When he was older the family settled in Elk Grove Village Illinois, but Jim always came back to Hoffman to spend his summers. He attended college in Elgin, Illinois and Chesterton, IN where he received his degree in Finance. James had a very successful career in finance and cost cutting. He worked for several organizations and corporations but one of the most notable was GD Searle one the largest Pharmaceutical Companies in the country.
James C Hotvedt, age 81, of Hanover Park Illinois passed away on November 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Verna Hotvedt; brother, Gary Hotvedt; his sisters, Joan Meadows (Frank) and Kaylene Hotvedt; and his former wife, Shirley Hotvedt.
James was a devoted father to Lori Elder - Hotvedt (Steve Dieckhaus) Carol (Ed) Stanko, and Brenda (Tom) Crissie: grandfather of Jason, Jamie, Kyle, Samantha, Chase and Brett: great grandfather of Adalyn, Troy, Addison, Regan and Emeryson, sister Kerry (Robert) Snow.
James was a no-nonsense kind of guy, protective over his family, loved his family and friends and lived his life on his terms. Quote: "I did it my way”.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman, MN.
A visitation will take place at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, MN from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM.
Interment will be in Land Cemetery near Hoffman, Minnesota
