OBITUARY IRVIN RAY PAULSON Irvin Ray Paulson was born on April 26, 1917, in Hudson Township, Douglas County, MN, the son of Hans Martinas and Ida (Roby) Paulson. He attended grade school in Holmes City, MN and helped his brother on the farm. Irvin liked baseball and softball and played with local town teams. On February 17, 1945 Irvin was united in marriage to Ruth Townsend in Alexandria at Ruth?s father?s home. The couple was blessed with three children, David, Donna, and Beverly. Irvin joined the United States Navy during WWII shortly after his marriage. After the service he began his own trucking business, Paulson Trucking and was involved in the trucking industry his entire life. He retired from truck driving in the early 80?s and drove school bus for District 206 for several years. Following his retirement he and Ruth enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, many times to visit family. Irvin liked hunting and trap-shooting. He was an avid reader and was a baseball and football fan. On Monday, July 6, 2009, Irvin died at the age of ninety-two years old. He is survived by his children David Paulson of Alexandria; Donna (Reg) Ripperger of Tulsa, OK; Beverly (Tim) Palmer of Naples, FL; six grandchildren Ross Paulson, Andrea Paulson, Grant Paulson, Gregory Ripperger, Elizabeth ?Lisa? Ripperger, and Brent Ripperger; sisters Fern Halstead of Freeport, IL and Ada Anderson of Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Paulson, brother Paul Paulson, sisters Muriel Omland and Arlene Roiland and an infant brother. A Memorial Service was held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Calvary Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dale Olson officiating. Kim Byrne was the organist and Sonny Osterberg was the soloist. Interment was in the Oscar Lake Cemetery near Holmes City, MN. Honorary Pallbearers were Gregory Ripperger, Ross Paulson, Oliver Anderson, Harlan Campbell, Allen Gerdes, Robert Haabala, and Eugene Oswald.
