Alexandria

Howard LaVerne Kruger passed away on November 29, 2025 in Anoka, Minnesota. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Anderson Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00 AM with a public visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Geneva Cemetery following a funeral luncheon.

Howard was born on May 2, 1930 in Lake Crystal, Minnesota to George and Marvel (Moody) Kruger. He was a high school graduate from Glenwood in 1947 and a graduate from St. Cloud State Teachers College. He met the love of his life, Delores Peterson, and the two were married on August 22, 1954 in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Howard began his teaching career at a country school in Glenwood then onto other locations such as Litchfield, Coon Rapids, and Anoka. He was a Principal in Wells, Northfield, and Anoka. He also taught 4th grade at an International School in Antwerp, Belgium. He retired from teaching in 1992.

Howard loved and had an insatiable desire (with the absolute greenest thumb) for gardening! He also loved ceramics, which he and Delores taught classes for over 25 years.

Left to cherish Howard's memory are his wife of 71 years, Delores ValRae (Peterson) Kruger of Anoka; sons: Kevin (Karla) of Andover, Timothy of Ramsey, Todd (Kathy) of Ramsey; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marvel Dell (Moody) Kruger; father, George Fred Kruger; brothers: Harold Neal and Harvey Lowell; sister, Harriet Arlene; as well as his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Hazel Peterson.
