Gladys Elsie Busch also known as “Shorty”, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Raymo) Jobe, was born on January 18, 1935, in Alexandria, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm in Hudson Township with her four sisters and one brother. Gladys married William Busch on September 9, 1950, and together they raised five children, James, Jerry, Jean, Judy, and Joyce. She helped her husband on the farm in Hudson Township and worked at Zion Lutheran School as a special education teacher.
Shorty volunteered her time to many organizations. She was a 4-H leader and served on the Hudson Cemetery board for many years. She also was involved with Zion Lutheran Church. She was part of Ladies Aide, Evening Guild, and Gerutllichkeit Church Supper at Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She was known for her hocks and sauerkraut. Shorty kept herself busy by hunting, fishing, and tending to her well known beautiful flower gardens. Short’s family will always cherish their memories of family gatherings at the dinner table with plenty of food for all and spending time on her deck.
Gladys E. Busch age 86 of Alexandria, died on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is survived by her children, Jean (Wally) Walberg of Ironton, Judy (Brian Line) Thoennes of Miltona, and Joyce (Zane Ranum) Anderson of Walters; sisters, Elaine Holdridge of Oregon and Lucille Holmes of Des Moines, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William Busch; sons, James Busch and Jerry Busch; sisters, Lois Hastings and LaVonne Watson; brother, Harold Jobe.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at 1 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.
Gladys’s memorial service will be livestreamed on her obituary page on the funeral home’s website.
A visitation will take place one hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will be Hudson Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Hudson Cemetery Association.
