Gerald "Jerry" Elmer Sather, age 92, of Nelson, died on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Galeon in Osakis. After his time serving in the military, he went to Spartan School of Aeronautics and earned his A&P mechanic’s license. Then he went to work for various airlines, ending up at North Central airlines in Minneapolis. Here he met Barbara Hanson, also originally from Nelson, and started dating. They were married on July 1, 1961, at Fahlun Church in Nelson. They lived in Bloomington MN for 5 years. Kevin and Kathy were added to the family before they moved back to a farm north of Nelson in 1967 where they still lived. Jerry took a job with Bellanca aircraft factory, staying until 1976 when he would start working for Weber’s Aero Repair, Inc, buying the business in 1982. Jerry retired from Weber’s in 1995. He was recognized by the FAA for 50 years of being a pilot and a maintenance technician.

Jerry was involved with both the Nelson cemetery and the Fahlun cemetery as a board member and sexton. He was involved with the Nelson Men’s Club and later the Nelson Community Association. Jerry was a Fahlun church board member for many years.
