Genevieve “Jenny” Ann Muzik, the daughter of Chester and Ernestine (Triplett) Johnson, was born on November 10, 1943, in Lake City, Iowa. She lived on a farm with her family near Rock City, IA until 1949, when they moved to a farm near Westbrook, MN. In 1953, Jenny and her family moved to Stewartville, MN, where she graduated high school in 1961. Jenny moved to Alexandria in 1962 and lived with her sister’s family. While working as an assistant at the Alexandria Clinic she met Larry Muzik. After dating for a while, they were united in marriage on January 9, 1965 and later divorced. Three children were born to this union: Wendy, Michelle, and Trevor. Jenny stayed at home to help with the farm, Tiling and Black Top businesses until she started as a bookkeeper for Anderson Florist. Jenny left there to work at the Douglas County Jail as a Correctional Officer then promoted to Jail Programmer. She was instrumental in organizing 17 Jail Rec Retreats at the Douglas County Jail for the inmates. Jenny also had the opportunity to work side by side with her daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Brad Kuhnau for many years at the jail before retiring in 2009.
Jenny was an outgoing, extremely organized, colorful woman who had a great sense of humor and quick wit. She loved to play golf, watch the birds in her bird feeder and bath, and loved to read. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the Pub where she lived for coffee and conversation. Jenny was known as Mom, Grandma Cop, Nana, and GG to her loving family. Jenny loved every moment she was able to spend with each of them. She will be forever loved by those who knew her.
