Genevieve A. Buscemi

August 10, 1945 — January 25, 2024

Alexandria

Genevieve Ann (Splittgerber) Buscemi died peacefully on January 25, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud surrounded by family. She was born on August 10, 1945, in Minneapolis and was raised in Alexandria graduating from Jefferson Senior High School.  She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963 where she met and married the love of her life, Philip Buscemi. During her time in service, she made sure that “every soldier got paid properly and on time.” After Genevieve was honorably discharged, she and her husband relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts where she made a career as a legal secretary.  When she retired, she returned to Minnesota and lived the remainder of her life in Alexandria. She was a very private person who enjoyed reading and photography and loved her cats.  Her sharp wit and cheerfulness will be missed.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her infant son, Baby Boy Buscemi; husband, Philip Buscemi; mother, Mary (Splittgerber) Swenson; step-father, Franklin Swenson; and father, Gordon Miller. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Lori) Swenson of New Richland; sisters Lauren Feeken and Diane (Jay) Pantze, both of Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial will be held, followed by interment in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery on February 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  All who knew and loved Genevieve are welcome to attend.
