Evelyn Skrove, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Korkowski) Webskowski, was born on February 10, 1927, in Millerville, Minnesota and graduated from Brandon High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Warren Skrove on October 21, 1945. Together they raised six children, Don, Dave, Bob, Sue, Carol, and Bonnie. Evelyn stayed home and cared for her family before she dedicated herself to working at Fingerhut in Alexandria for twenty years.
Outside of work, Evelyn had an array of hobbies and interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She had an adventurous spirit and loved playing Bingo, horseshoes, and golf. Gardening was another passion of hers; she took great pleasure in tending to her vegetable and flower gardens.
Family was the cornerstone of Evelyn's life. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones and always made them feel special. Evelyn was a loving wife and mother who left behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and love.
Evelyn passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023, at Alex Assisted Living in Alexandria at the age of 96 years old.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Warren Skrove, son Don Skrove, parent, Joseph and Barbara Webskowski, and siblings Emeline Webskowski, Arlene Webskowski, Marian Kelly, and Elphege Webskowski.
Evelyn is survived by her five children: Dave (Kathy) Skrove of Valdosta, GA; Bob Skrove of Alexandria; Sue Klein of Alexandria; Carol (Wayne) Thoennes of Alexandria; and Bonnie (Gaylen) Timm of Hutchinson. Her daughter-in-law Meredith Skrove also survives her. Evelyn's love extended to her grandchildren: Kris (Theresa) Skrove, Shari Wannebo, Melanie (Chris) Plumly, Kristina Iwaszko, Jessica (Bill) Blanchard, Jeremy (Candy) Thoennes, Angie (John) Nelson, Michelle (Aaron) Zollner, Geoff Timm, and Aaron Timm. She also adored her great-grandchildren: Sarah Skrove, Rachel Skrove, Amanda Wannebo, Eva Wannebo, Lizzy Casoria, Makayla Casoria, Alexander Plumly, Joey Thoennes, Abby Snyder, Julia Nelson, Brooke Nelson, Shelby Nelson, Colby Nelson, Olivia Zollner, Brayden Zollner, and Colton Zollner.
Evelyn's siblings: Edith Larson, Jean Peterson, Phyllis (Lee) Susanka, and Allen Webskowski will deeply miss their sister. Additionally, Evelyn leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were blessed to have her in their lives.
Evelyn will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
A visitation will be held from 4-7 PM with a prayer service at 4:30 PM on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 7, 2023, at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria.
Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home and Crematory.
