Eugene Morrissette died peacefully on February 17, 2022 at Alex Assisted Living Center in Alexandria, MN. Gene was born on May 7, 1925 in Grand Forks, ND to Francis and Mary (Bjerkelein) Morrissette. Eugene and his two siblings, sister Madonna (Chambers) and brother Floyd were raised in East Grand Forks, MN.
Eugene married Dorothy Ann Jonas on July 28, 1953 in St Martin, MN. They lived in East Grand Forks and Gene worked at various jobs in the service industry and finished his career at the University of North Dakota Maintenance Department, retiring in 1991. He and Dorothy continued to reside in East Grand Forks until they moved to Alexandria in 1997 following a devastating flood.
Gene and Dorothy had three children; Mark (spouse Michelle), Mary, and Debbie (Huber) (spouse Tom Sinning). They also had four grandchildren; Justin (spouse Shoko), Nathan, Aaron and Kristin along with two great grandchildren, Cole and Jack.
Gene was a kind, gentle and creative man who enjoyed his family and his passion of taxidermy and later in life wood carving. He always enjoyed being outside and soaking up the sun.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy and siblings. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday February 21 at Anderson Funeral Home with Fr. Matthew Kuhn presiding.
Burial will take place in East Grand Forks this spring at a date pending.
