Eileen Barbara Baird was born February 23, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Gausz) Baird. She was raised in Philadelphia where she graduated from high school. Following her graduation from high school she worked as the receptionist and bookkeeper for her father’s business.
On June 12, 1954, Eileen was united in marriage to Bill Dietzler. They lived in many places over the course of their marriage. Through the years they were residents of Philadelphia, PA, Camp LeJeunne, NC, Starbuck, MN, Minneapolis, MN, and most recently Alexandria, MN. They were inseparable for almost 62 years and were blessed with six children, eighteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.
Family was at the heart of Eileen’s life. She loved caring for her family. She was proud of her children and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved being a good wife, mother and grandmother. Eileen’s happy place was going to the beach at Ocean City, NJ and spending a day with her family.
Eileen put her faith and trust in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. Her faith sustained her through the trials of life. Her prayers were simple conversations with her God. But she had to do her praying for her family in the morning because if she prayed at night, it kept her from going to sleep.
Eileen was loved for her sassy wit, her quick come backs, and “the look” that was accompanied by pointing her pointer finger at you.
Eileen enjoyed playing cards; Five Crowns, Gin Rummy and Pinochle were her favorite games. Eileen enjoyed golfing and spent time reading stories of the Amish and romance novels. She liked to fish in the summer and the winter. Eileen enjoyed hand crafts such as sewing, crocheting, and counted cross-stitch projects.
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, Eileen died at the age of eighty-five years.
