Edward Frank Juelich

Edward Frank Juelich, 99, of Alexandria passed away on May 31, 2023. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 3:00-5:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m., at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Burial will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Edward was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Anna (Hoeller) and Edward Frank Julich Sr. on June 5, 1923. He attended school at St. Agnes School in St. Paul, Minnesota and would later graduate from high school before enrolling in the Army. After graduating, Edward served in the US Army from March 8, 1943 to January 31, 1946. During his service he was awarded the American Theater Medal, Asiatic Theater Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal.

After his time of service, Edward was introduced to Lillian Peck as a result of their father’s friendship and the two were married on April 7, 1951 in St. Paul. Edward loved working with his hands. He built boats, a sawmill and worked in the garden. Edward also had an interest in ham radios and belonged to a radio club for many years.

Edward spent many of his working years as a pattern maker for rockets at Watkin’s company until his retirement at age 59. He enjoyed 66 years of marriage to Lillian until her passing in November of 2017. After Lillian’s passing, Edward moved to Nelson Gables Senior Care Apartments in Alexandria, Minnesota in April of 2018. While there he enjoyed playing kings corners and wii bowling. He was especially competitive with his bowling.

Just shy of his 100th birthday, Edward passed away on May 31, 2023 at his residence.

Edward is survived by his children: Edward III (Margot), Marie Schrader, Barbara Peterson (Steve); grandchildren: Warren Schrader, Allen Schrader, Melissa Peterson, Brittany Peterson, Michael Peterson; sisters: Louise Walker and Rhoda Norsten. He is preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Lillian; sister, Anna Dwyer; one infant son; as well as his parents.
