Donata Eloise Herr

Donata Eloise Herr was born on August 22, 1947, in Wadena, Minnesota the daughter of Vernon and Helen McLeod. She grew up in Wadena and graduated in 1965 from Wadena High School.

After graduation Donata married Tom Herr on October 30, 1965, in Wadena. After their marriage Tom served his country and Donata starting working at Woolworth. In October of 1972 their daughter Lynette was born. When the Woolworth Store closed in Wadena the Herr family moved to Alexandria where Donata continued to work for Woolworth and became their manager. She later worked for 3M in Alexandria where she was employed until her retirement

Donata will be remembered as a person who always took care and gave to others. Whether it was getting groceries for people or donated blood her life was about helping others. In her early years she enjoyed working in the garden and loved her flowers and watching the birds. Some of her favorite memories made were on trips every year with her daughter Lynette. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Donata died on Friday, May 22, 2026. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom; daughter, Lynnette (Jay) Christoperson; brother, Collin (Judy) McLeod; sister, Gayle.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Vernon.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
