Donald J. Schlosser

Donald J. Schlosser, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul, MN, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 24, 1951, in Alexandria, MN, and grew up in the Belle River area, where his early years were spent attending country school and helping on the family farm.

Donald served in the United States Army, having been drafted shortly after his 18th birthday. He served during the Vietnam War with honor and bravery, a testament to his commitment to his country.

In June 1973, Don united in marriage with Jean Weisgram, and together they welcomed two sons, Dennis and Jeff, into their lives. He found love once again with Dawn Cihlar, marrying her on August 9, 1986, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Together they, enriched their family with two daughters, Ashley and Brittany. Throughout his life, Don reveled in playing the role of devoted father and doting grandfather, especially treasuring moments spent with his grandchildren. They were the bright stars of his world, each bringing unique joy and laughter into his life.

Donald's zest to run his own business, became a reality when he and longtime friend Doug, started Draft Systems & Services. He provided a service by cleaning beverage lines for local bars and restaurants for many years. He also worked over the years as a machinist for Juno and Pro Fab. Known for his kindness and sense of humor, Donald was a man who could fix anything, and he was dedicated to providing well for his family throughout his life.

In his personal life, Donald cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was known for his love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and was actively involved with the Carlos Rod and Gun Club for many years. He also took pleasure in cruising the streets of Carlos on his side by side or golf cart, making fond memories along the way. Garage sale hunting was another pastime he enjoyed, often finding his so-called treasures.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dawn Schlosser of Carlos, MN; his son, Jeff Schlosser of Benicia, CA; daughter-in-law, Wendy Schlosser of Ennis, MT; daughters, Ashley (Nick) Schlosser of Forada and Brittany (Drew) Wright of Osakis, along with many cherished grandchildren: Kylie Schlosser, Zain Wright, Zoe Wright, Makayla Schlosser, Zeplyn Wright, Cameron Schlosser, Brooklyn Schlosser, Eli Crotteau, Brody Kruggel, Pyper Wright, and Brecklyn Kruggel. He is also survived by his brothers, Norman Schlosser and Kenneth (Laurel) Schlosser; sisters, Beverly (Richard) Johnson and Jan Busch; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donald is preceded in death by his son, Dennis Schlosser; his nephew, Ryan Johnson; and his parents.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 4-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.

Military Honor will be accorded by the Veterans Memorial Honor Guard after the memorial service at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel.

Donald J. Schlosser leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be profoundly missed.
