Delores Mae Strommen

On 14 September 2022, Delores went home to be with Jesus and family.

Delores was born August 4, 1928 in Pope County, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Schefflo) Strommen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural Starbuck, MN.  She attended country schools in Pope County and graduated in 1947 from Glenwood High School. Her passion was playing the piano. Early on, she played and sang in church, weddings, and funerals.

Delores started her working life at Peter’s Summer Hotel in Glenwood. Later, she worked at Peterson Drug and Bethany Home in Alexandria.  Finally, she worked many years and retired from 3M in Alexandria, MN. In addition to working out, she was the driving force on the family farm in everything from driving tractor to throwing bales.

Delores died at the age of ninety-four years old at Minnewaska Lutheran Home. She was proceeded in death by her parents; three sisters: Jane Busch, Helen Strommen, and Joyce Pospisil; three brothers: Norman Strommen, Melvin Strommen and Robert Strommen; one nephew: Dale Strommen; one great niece: Tara Strommen; two sisters-in law: Norma Lea Strommen and Elda Strommen; two brother-in law: Harry Pospisil and Merlin Busch.

Delores Strommen is survived by six nieces/nephews: Sandra Holverson (Hillsboro, WI), Jim Pospisil (Alexandria, MN), Sharon Jirschele (Hillsboro, WI), Cathy Brown (Glenwood, MN), Tom Strommen (Brooklyn Park, MN), Judy Glandt (Grand Island, NE)

A funeral service will be held 11: 00 AM, September 19, 2022 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood. Reverend Krista Lee officiated. Interment followed in the Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery. Casket bearers include Sandra Holverson, Jim Pospisil, Sharon Jirschele, Cathy Brown, Tom Strommen and Judy Glandt.
