Deloras Elaine Ronning

July 6, 1931 — March 2, 2026

Alexandria, MN

Deloras Elaine Ronning, born to Emil & Helen (Hauer) Mrnak on July 6, 1931, in Douglas County, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Deloras exemplified the love and warmth of family throughout her life.

Growing up on the family farm four miles north of Miltona, Deloras shared many cherished moments working alongside her father. Her education began at the Scrivens School House where her connection with Arnold Ronning blossomed; he would ride his horse to school, getting her attention. This would mark the beginning of a lifelong bond, culminating in their marriage on July 15, 1947, as high school sweethearts. Together, Deloras and Arnold welcomed twelve children into the world and shared nearly 63 years of devotion before his passing.

Deloras was not only a nurturing mother but also a remarkable woman who adeptly managed her household. With a passion for gardening, she cultivated a vast array of vegetables, particularly rows of cucumbers, which her children helped tend. The experience instilled a sense of responsibility in them as they filled burlap sacks to exchange at the pickle factory in Eagle Bend. Her ability to stretch a dollar or a pound of hamburger was legendary among those who knew her. Cooking meals from scratch, freezing and canning vegetables, and sewing clothes were just some of Deloras’s talents that contributed to the well-being of her family.

Additionally, Deloras balanced her role as a homemaker with a full-time job cleaning cabins at a local resort, showcasing her strong work ethic and determination. Later in life, her relationship with Jesus Christ transformed her spirit and further guided her through the ups and downs of life.

One of Deloras's most endearing contributions was sending out birthday and anniversary cards to every child, spouse, grandchild, and great-grandchild. This tradition kept her busy, resulting in over 150 cards annually, each adorned with a scripture verse and personal message that reflected her loving nature.

Deloras is survived by her children DiAnn (Ray) Schmidt, Cindy (Chuck) Larson, Randy (Linda) Ronning, Kenny Francis, Rick (Nancy) Ronning, Pamela (Kim) Collins, Kevin & Edite Donatelle, Roxane (Pete) Mikkelson, David (Sue) Ronning, Jim (Joan) Ronning, and Lori (Paul) Wagner; sisters Joyce Weiskopf & Marlys Mrnak; as well as by 35 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren, who carry forward her legacy of love and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Arnold, and three daughters: Carol Beam, Marge Francis, and Joan Donatelle.

For all who had the privilege of knowing Deloras Elaine Ronning, her life was a testament to resilience, faith, and incredible love. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bethany on the Lake for their loving and thoughtful care during her final days.
