Debra Ann Rustman

Debra Ann Rustman, was born on June 10, 1956, in New Ulm, Minnesota to Alfred and Carolee (Myers) Hindermann. She passed away on August 20, 2026 at her home in Nelson. Her journey throughout life was one marked by compassion, resilience, and strength that touched everyone who knew her.

Deb grew up in New Ulm and attended Holy Trinity Cathedral High School. She was united in marriage to Matthew Rustman on March 9, 1973. The couple made their home in Tyler, Minnesota, later moving to Montevideo before making their home in Alexandria. To this union three daughters were born: Gayle, Stacy, and Amanda.

After moving to Alexandria, Deb worked for Central Lakes Restaurant Supply. She and the crew at Central Lakes had a special bond and cherished working together.

After her divorce Deb moved to Lake Latoka – her happy place. Many memories were made here with family and friends. She loved floating on the water and just having a good time with her people. One of her families favorite memories was when she was dancing on the deck to the song “Pontoon” just living her best life.

Deb was known by family and friends for her feisty personality but at the same time was very accepting of everyone. She was a mom and grandma who loved her family and their time together. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She looked forward to this day and it was important to her that everyone received a present and enjoyed a fantastic meal together.

Deb will be missed deeply by all who knew her. She is survived by her three daughters: Gayle Murray, Stacy (Jason Braaten) Rustman, Amanda Rustman; 7 grandchildren: Sierra (Nells), Nate (Grizelda), Vivian, Anyah, Cheyne (Ashley), Casey, Kaylee (Jordan), Riley, Baeu; siblings: Harry Hindermann of Shakopee, Alfred Jr. (Lavonne) Hindermann, of Hutchinson, Theresa Felsheim of Brainerd, Joy (Brett) Smith of Simpsonville, SC; several cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter, JaLysa; brother, Michael.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will be at Nelson Cemetery.
