Dean Russell Jorgensen

April 10, 1941 — October 5, 2023

Alexandria

Dean Russell Jorgensen was born to Nina Joyce (Halling) Jorgensen and Carl Jorgensen on April 10, 1941 and completed his life journey October 5, 2023. He leaves the legacy as a selfless and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was always up for adventure and enjoyed quiet moments, finding solace in crossword puzzles.

Dean grew up on a farm in Acro, MN with experiences outdoors including trapping and mink farming. He spent many summers playing sports, especially baseball and playing with cousins. His appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife led him to a degree in biology from Gustavus Adolphus College (1963) where he continued to play competitive baseball in college and town baseball.

Dean spent the majority of his 34-year career teaching biology and drivers education at Marshall High School in Marshall, MN. Some kids liked his class so much they took it twice, as he would say. Early in his teaching career, Dean refereed different high-school sporting events. He also played softball in various town and church leagues into his 60s when he was the oldest in the league.

Dean traveled with his wife of 52 years, Leeann, from Mexico to Qatar visiting his family and seeing the world, and he hardly ever turned down a fishing trip to Canada or a game of cards.  He spent 50 years vacationing and living on Lake Andrew fishing, and boating,

Dean is survived by his wife, Leeann; sister, Charlene [Walter] Ray; children: Laurel Jordan, Carl [Yvonne] Jorgensen, Nathan [Courtney] Jorgensen, Kara [Jamie Hibdon] Jorgensen; and grandchildren: Alexander and Nicolas [Brooke] Jordan (great grandson Beckett), Arika and Boden Jorgensen, Griffin and Fletcher Jorgensen, and Finley, Andrew, and Jace Hibdon.

Dean's presence will forever be missed, but his legacy of love, adventure, and dedication will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Holmes City, MN.
