David Wayne Elton was born on April 29, 1962, in Morris, MN. He was the loving son of Wayne and Solveig (Knutson) Elton. David graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1980. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1984. Dave spent the majority of his career in appliance sales, working for Maytag as a wholesale distributor for 25 years. In 2013, became a dedicated team member of Cullen’s Home Center up until his passing. He loved working with and helping others. Dave was a kind man with the most loving heart, and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed time with family, music, and sports: golf, football, and basketball to name a few of his favorites. Dave loved game shows and held an unbelievable number of trivia and fun fact knowledge.
Dave passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN at the age of 59. Dave leaves us after his tough battle with COVID-19 the last 4 months. He was surrounded by loved ones in his final days and was able to say his goodbyes to family and friends
He will truly be missed by all. David is preceded in death by his sister, Kristi (Elton) Montplaisir; father in-law, Edward Grussing; and grandparents. David is survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Joe Elton, Katie (Travis) Haupert, Bethy (Johnny) Hedine, and Lillian Roering. grandchildren, Mason Haupert, Madalyn Haupert, Lyla Hedine and Eddy Hedine; parents, Wayne and Solveig Elton; brother-in-law, Larry Montplaisir;. nephew, Jacob Montplaisir; and many other loving family members and many close friends.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM on Monday, August 30, 2021, at Lake Community Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
