Daniel Scott Borchert was born November 7, 1952 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Alexandria, MN to Donald and Myrdene (Froemming) Borchert. Daniel attended and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. Following his schooling, Daniel enlisted in the United States Airforce. He served as a security specialist for 3 years spending his time overseas guarding the Berlin Wall in Germany and doing border patrol between North and South Korea. In 1975, Daniel took his air traffic control specialist course and started his 12 year career as an air traffic controller at bases in Texas and North Dakota. He finished his military career as a force management craftman on the Dyess Airforce Base in Texas. Daniel was honorably discharged on October 31, 1995. After spending a couple more years in Texas, Daniel decided to move back home to Minnesota. Once Daniel was settled, he bought his first home with acreage in Miltona, MN. He worked at Alexandria Extrusion until he retired in 2017.
Daniel was an avid reader and loved to expand his knowledge of things. He enjoyed keeping to himself but always made time for his family, especially when they got together to play cards.
Daniel died on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home in Miltona at the age of sixty-nine years. He is survived by his mother: Myrdene Borchert; his brother: Steve (Jean) Borchert; two nieces: Kelly Borchert and Carrie (Derick) Johnson; and two great-nephews: Greyson and Kyler Johnson. Daniel was preceded in death by his father: Donald Borchert and brother: Mark Borchert.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Geneva Cemetery.
