Dana M. Johnson, born on February 22, 1960, in Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away at his home on November 6, 2025 at the age of 65. Dana was a cherished son of Merlyn and Delores (Gerber) Johnson. His early years were spent on the family farm located on the west side of Lake Mary. There, he contributed to farm chores, developing a love for nature and animals. His inquisitive mind led him to tinker with electrical items and cultivate a lifelong passion for computers. Dana graduated from Faribault School for the Blind in 1978.
After high school, Dana moved to the Twin Cities, where he explored numerous roles in various fields, working with computers, painting apartments, and engaging in telemarketing. However, the call of his roots ultimately drew him back to the peaceful surroundings near Lake Mary, where he could continue to live in harmony with nature.
Gardening was one of Dana's foremost passions, and he cultivated a beautiful garden that became a source of pride for him. He affectionately referred to this personal sanctuary as "Woodtick Ridge." Through gardening, he found peace and fulfillment, which he pursued with dedication throughout his life. Additionally, he cherished moments spent outdoors, often engaging in camping, biking, snowmobiling, riding his four-wheeler, and tending to his chickens and goats. He cherished moments spent around the bonfire, especially when enjoying beers with his nephew, Josh.
Dana had a natural and holistic approach to wellness, was known for his positive and happy-go-lucky demeanor, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dana is survived by his brothers, Allen (Sandy) Johnson and DuWayne (Ann) Johnson; sister, Debra (Bruce) Jahnke; nephews, Dustin (Kassie) Jahnke, Josh (Emily) Jahnke, Michael Johnson, and Bryan (Kris) Johnson; and nieces, Rhonda (Rob) Condon and Kelly Johnson.
