Dale Lyle Flemming

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dale Lyle Flemming, who died peacefully on July 31, 2026, at Bethany on the Lake, at the age of 75. Born on October 12, 1950, in Glencoe, MN, Dale was the son of Otto and Ruth (Slipka) Flemming. He graduated from Glencoe High School in 1969 and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving a tour in Vietnam, where he displayed remarkable courage. Dale was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart, Air Medal, and the Bronze Star for his heroism, a testament to his bravery and dedication to his country.

Upon returning home, Dale settled back in Glencoe, where he found the love of his life in Judy Brelje. They exchanged vows on November 11, 1972, and began a wonderful life together that would last 53 years. Together they raised three wonderful children—Chris, Jenny, and Laurie—creating many memories along the way. In 1979, they made their home in Alexandria, where Dale enjoyed a fulfilling career in engineering, working for Douglas Machine and Brenton Engineering until his retirement in 2012.

Dale was a man of many passions. He loved the great outdoors, often spending his weekends hunting, fishing, and camping with family. Sunday drives after church were a beloved tradition, filled with laughter and warm conversation. He had a kind and caring spirit, always ready to lend a hand. He always put his family’s needs first and would not miss any moment or event. His family meant everything to him and he made sure they knew that. Dale’s attention to detail was evident in everything he did. Dale found immeasurable joy in the company of his grandchildren, dancing with Judy and listening to music in his garage.

Dale leaves behind his devoted wife, Judy; his son, Chris (Hannah) Flemming of Lewisville, TX; his daughters, Jenny (Jim) Lamb of Alexandria and Laurie (Mark) Ratajesak of Eagle Bend; as well as eight grandchildren, Jackie (Tyler) Neumann, Jordyn (Cammeran) Brown, Justin Lamb, Emma Timm, Grayson Timm, Sawyer Ratajesak, Angela Flemming, Sophia Flemming, and two great-grandchildren, Brystol Neumann and Oaklynn Brown, who all brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother, Duane (Su) Flemming of Coon Rapids, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bud Flemming, and his sisters Lou Ella Benson and Darlene Dreger.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria.

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and continue on hour prior to the funeral at the church on Wednesday,

Interment will be in Kinkead Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard, and the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard.

As we remember Dale, we'll carry forward his legacy of kindness, support, and love for family and God. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
