Craig Steven Tvrdik

August 23, 1955 — September 6, 2025

Alexandria, MN

Craig Tvrdik, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Saturday, September 6th 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Craig was born on August 23rd 1955, in Alexandria to Jerry and Patricia Tvrdik. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life — values he carried with him throughout his years.

Craig proudly served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4). He served in the Regular Army (RA) and was part of a long tradition of honor, commitment, and service to his country. After his service, Craig continued to support his fellow veterans as a dedicated member of the Lowry American Legion for 46 years.

He spent much of his life working with his hands and his heart — farming the land, working as a mechanic, and eventually retiring as an assembler at Douglas Machines. He took pride in every job he did and in the life he built with his family.

Craig loved fishing and hunting, but he enjoyed it even more when his kids, wife, and granddaughter were by his side. He often shared stories filled with laughter from the hunting shack with his brothers-in-law, and cherished the many fishing adventures—whether on the ice or in the boat—with his good friends Jim Koubsky, Verny Klemm, Mark Molden, and Kork.

He especially enjoyed the occasional motorcycle ride with his longtime friend Lawrence Hvezda, having a beer at the Lowry Legion, traveling to the Tvrdik's for a Vikings game, and those unforgettable shrimp boils at the LaCroix’s. He was always happy to invite everyone over for his famous fish frys out on the patio and loved a good bonfire surrounded by family and friends. But most of all, he had a special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law’s chicken salad.

Craig had a laugh that could light up any room. He was happiest when his kids and granddaughter were near, and he was endlessly proud of them. More than anything, he loved his wife Sue, and was grateful for every day they spent together during his retirement.

Craig is survived by his loving wife, Sue Tvrdik; his children, Ashley Maus (Tim Maus) and Jerry Tvrdik (Ashley Tvrdik); and his cherished granddaughter, Hayley Maus. He is also survived by his sister Sharie Kalina, brother Todd Tvrdik, and many dear brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Patricia Tvrdik; his in-laws, Thomas and Lorraine Leonard; brothers-in-law Harold Leonard and Bill Leonard; sisters-in-law Mary Leonard and Lori Leonard; and his niece Leah Kalina.

Craig’s presence, his stories, and his laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
