Corinne Winifred Johnson was born on May 2, 1928, in Hoffman, Minnesota the daughter of Carl and Winnifred (Ellingson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Lincoln Lutheran Church in rural Hoffman. Corinne attended Hoffman High School and graduated in 1946. After graduating high school, she attended Miss Wood’s Kindergarten and Primary College where she earned her Associate of Arts Degree. Corinne continued her education at Northern Colorado University, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She finished her schooling at Winona State University, earning her Master of Science Degree.
Corinne started her teaching career in Decorah, IA followed by Sioux Falls, SD and many other schools in MN. She taught the longest in Moorhead, MN and retired from there in 1987. After retirement Corinne taught piano lessons from her home in Hoffman. In the late 1990s she moved to her new townhome in Alexandria.
Corinne was a member of many educational organizations including NEA, MEA, MKA, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Faith was also a big part of Corinne’s life. She was a lifelong member at Lincoln Lutheran Church, a member of Christian Women’s, weekly bible studies, singing in the school and church choirs, and she was a part of Son’s of Norway.
Corinne’s biggest passion in life were her travels. She made it to Norway eight times and to over twenty other countries. Corinne traveled extensively throughout the United States, and made it to all fifty states.
Corinne passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Autumn Cottages in Alexandria. She is survived by family and friends. Corinne is preceded in death by her parents and a baby sister.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Lincoln Lutheran Church in rural Hoffman. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will take place at church cemetery in rural Hoffman, MN.
