Collin M. Nelson

Collin Nelson, age 46, of Alexandria, passed away on February 1st.

Collin was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend whose heart was as big as his passions. He worked as a painter by trade, but his true love was photography—especially within the dirt track car racing community.

Family meant everything to Collin. He loved fiercely and wholeheartedly, and that love was fully returned. He took great pride in caring for his mom after the loss of his father. He was an especially proud uncle and he was very excited to be a great-uncle. He treasured the many family gatherings at the lake with cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle; his grandparents, Leonard & Grace Nelson; Corky & Juliann Scherrer; and step-grandmother, Norma Scherrer.

Collin is survived by his mother, Becky Nelson; his sisters, Gina (Stewart) Hansen and Beth Anderson; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Lauren, Finn, Shea, Alex, Drew, and Jordan, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Collin will be honored at a Celebration of Life on March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 pm and again one hour prior to the service from 10:00–11:00 am. Lunch will follow the celebration. The visitation and service will be held at Anderson Funeral Home, 659 Voyager Avenue NW, Alexandria, MN 56308. Guests are invited to wear their favorite racing attire. Memorials are preferred to Support Our Kids (SOK’S), a local community initiative to support children with mental health.
