Colin Neil Holthusen, the son of Dean and Helen (Patrick) Holthusen, was born on November 3, 1963, in Alexandria, Minnesota.  Colin attended Jefferson High School through the 11th grade and then attained his GED in 1982 from the Sky Ranch for boys in South Dakota.  In 1986, Colin began dating Carol Hull and after 12 years of dating, they were united in marriage on December 31, 1998, in Alexandria, Minnesota.  Two children were born to this union, Ashley and Andrew.

Colin worked at Alexandria Dray and Moving, Waste Management, and other odd jobs throughout his life.  He mostly stayed at home to care for his children as they grew up.  Colin was very artistic and liked to work with his hands.  He loved to draw, work in his vegetable gardens, go fishing, and wood burn hand drawn pictures for family and friends.  Colin was a history buff and enjoyed watching the History Channel.  He also enjoyed watching wrestling, car shows, and listening to music.  He loved to go and hangout with his family and friends.

Colin N. Holthusen, died on Saturday, September 10, 2022, unexpectedly at his home in Alexandria at the age of 58 years old.  He is survived by his wife, Carol Holthusen of Alexandria; daughter, Ashley Hull of Alexandria; son, Andrew Holthusen of Alexandria; granddaughter, Aurora Hull of Alexandria; brothers, Chris Holthusen of Alexandria, Brian (Aimee) Holthusen of St. Paul, and Paul Holthusen of Alexandria; sister, Anne Bicknell of Aiken; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Sharon Holden and Laura Bicknell.

A Celebration of Colin’s life will take place at the Alexandria VFW (1102 3rd Avenue East) on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at noon.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria.
