In Loving Memory of Charles Lee Kim Srock

Charles Lee Kim Srock (Kim) was born on November 8, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Charles and Betty Srock. He grew up in Ely, Minnesota with his six brothers and sisters.

As a teenage boy, Kim spent his summers working for outfitters in the Boundary Waters. He loved racing, especially snowmobiles, and raced the I-500 several times, earning many trophies along the way. In 1973, his family moved to Alexandria, where he met Joanne in high school. After high school, Kim moved to Oregon to work as a smoke jumper. He returned to Alexandria in 1977 to marry the love of his life, Joanne.

Together, Kim and Joanne built a life centered on faith, family, and love. Kim loved the Lord deeply, and his faith was not simply something he believed—it was something he lived. He was a spiritual leader in his home and intentionally led his family to know and follow the Lord, laying a strong foundation of faith that will continue through generations.

In the early years of their marriage, Kim worked out of town in Minneapolis with his business partner, Ted Justice, building apartment buildings. In 1991, he ventured out on his own and founded Srock Construction. Kim and Joanne became partners not only in marriage, but also in business, working side by side until Kim retired in 2021.

Kim loved hunting, fishing, and dogs. In 2003, he became business partners and lifelong friends with Ed and Annette Loeffler at Elk Lake Heritage Preserve, where he spent many years guiding pheasant hunts and creating lasting friendships.

Kim had many interests, but his true passion was flying. In 2007, he earned his pilot's license, fulfilling a lifelong dream. He was an enthusiastic contributor to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). As part of his passion for aviation, he rebuilt and painted several planes, but his two planes—a Cessna and a Cub—held a special place in his heart. He would have owned many more if his hangar had allowed it! Kim made many friends at the airport and was always happy to lend a hand or share his knowledge with anyone who needed it. He spent countless hours there doing what he loved.

Kim lived a full and meaningful life, but above all else, his greatest joy and deepest pride were his family. He loved his wife of 49 years, Joanne, their children and six grandchildren with all his heart. His love for the Lord, devotion to his family, generous spirit and the legacy he built will live on in those who knew and loved him.

On August 21, 2026, at the age of 71, Kim passed away following a battle with lung disease and leukemia. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; his daughter, Amber Pazdernik; twin sons, Kelly (Tanya) Srock and Joel (Jessica) Srock; and six grandchildren, Alexis and Autumn Pazdernik, Haley and Gavin Srock, and Eli and McKoy Srock. Brothers and sisters, Wade (Kari) Srock, Vickie Zacher, Tamela Tkalcich, Tracy (Tracey) Srock, Shawna (Jerry) Fuhrer, Troy (Missy) Srock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Srock, and his in-laws, Claire and Virgie Walker.

A visitation will take place at the Reach Church in Alexandria, MN, on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 1-3 PM with a Celebration of Kim's life to follow at 3 PM with the Reverend Nick Grey and Reverend Tracy Srock officiating.

A private family interment will take place at a later date.

His earthly journey is complete, but the faith he lived and shared with his family will continue for generations to come. Kim made a lasting impact on many people and will be immensely missed.
