Carter Devon Stockert

Carter Devon Stockert, born on July 14, 2000 in Alexandria, MN, left us far too soon on August 13, 2026. To all who knew him, Carter’s memory will linger as a gentle light – warm, honest, and deeply cherished. The love that surrounded him originated from, and returned to, the many hearts he touched in his 26 years.

Carter’s journey began in Alexandria, where this big blue eyed little boy was welcomed into the loving arms of his parents Brian and Carolyn. From his first days, he brought laughter and brightness to their lives, a trait he would go on to share with everyone who crossed his path. As a younger brother to Blake the two shared similar interests playing both basketball and baseball for the Alexandria Cardinals.

Carter continued his baseball career pitching for the NDSU Bison. He graduated from NDSU with honors and started his teaching career. He loved his students and co-workers at South Elementary in West Fargo and they loved him stating “he was a ray of sunshine to everyone there.” He also wanted everyone around him to feel comfortable. This was evident in the time he took to help his students that had limitations by making adaptive equipment so they would be able to do the activities the other kids did.

Carter will be remembered as having a servant’s heart and a high level of empathy for his family and friends. His family meant everything to him and when they were going through difficult times the family's Mantra was “Hold the Rope” which is a metaphor about trust, commitment and teamwork, emphasizing the importance of unwavering support for others in their challenges.

Though Carter Devon Stockert’s time with us was heartbreakingly brief, the love he gave will always remain. He will be missed for his kindness, remembered for his unique sense of humor, and cherished always in the hearts of his family and friends.

He will be remembered by his parents: Brian & Carolyn; brother, Blake (Krista); nephew, Sawyer; grandma, Pauline Larson; grandpa, Marve (Libby) Stockert; aunts: Nancy (Scott) Abrahamson, Jill (Brian) Johnson; uncle, Paul Larson; along with several cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandma, Linda Stockert; grandpa, Richard “Bopa” Larson, and uncle Sean Stockert.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20th, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 21st, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria with the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.
