She grew up in Detroit and attended Parker Elementary School, later graduating from Mackenzie High School. During her high school years, Carol was a proud “Wingette”, (similar to a cheer leader) assigned to encourage the esteemed Red Kelly, who fondly remembered her even late in his life, prior to his passing.
After high school, Carol embarked on a professional journey working as an executive secretary at DuPont. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Orrin Foslien Jr, through her brother, Chuck. Her career path soon led her to Westland, MI, where she purchased her own home. The couple celebrated their love and commitment in a marriage that took place in 1984 in Westland, MI.
In 1997, Carol and Orrin made a significant transition, relocating to Orrin's family farm in Garfield, MN. This move not only allowed them to embrace a rural lifestyle but also to support and care for Orrin’s mother during her golden years. Carol was a loving step-mom and played a significant role in the life of her nephew, Rob, offering him a second mother’s love while they lived in Michigan.
A woman of many passions, Carol found joy in baking which led her to establish "Carol's Chocolates" in Alexandria, MN. There, she delighted many with her sweet creations during the few years she operated her business. In her retirement, Carol and Orrin enjoyed their time together, surrounded by the beauty of the farm.
Carol will be remembered for her unwavering resilience, quiet strength, and for the deep, genuine connections she shared with friends and family. Her warmth was felt by all who knew her, whether she was chatting at the beauty salon, taking pride in her appearance, or skillfully managing her finances. She was an active member of St. Luke's Church in Garfield, MN. Her lively spirit, love for animals, and warm personality made her a beloved member of her community.
