Annetta Ruby (Grosz) Knowles was born on July 18, 1936, in Fargo, North Dakota to Richard and Hazel (Hammer) Grosz. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1954 and attended St. Paul Bible College.
Annetta was united in marriage to John Knowles on June 22, 1957, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. To this union two children were born, Scott and Dawn. The family followed John’s career as a teacher and principal in the communities of Morris, Morgan, Elbow Lake and settling in Alexandria in 1970. Annetta was a homemaker while the kids were younger. When they arrived in Alexandria, she spent time working at the Viking Motel, Arrowwood, and Widseth Smith Nolting. Later she opened a shoe store called Feet First. After retirement, she worked as a hostess at Anderson Funeral Home.
Annetta loved music and sang in the First Lutheran Choir, the Potpourri Quartet, Sweet Adelines, and sang for many funerals. Annetta loved entertaining friends and family. She enjoyed a good game of cribbage with John and bridge with her friends. Most important to her was her family and she loved watching the grandchildren’s activities.
Annetta died on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Grand Arbor in Alexandria at the age of 84 under the care of Knute Nelson Hospice. She is survived by her son, Scott (Denise) of Hermantown, MN; daughter, Dawn (Mike) Raguse of Lester Prairie, MN; five grandchildren: Tom (Carly), Sam, Paul (Corin), Sarah (David Gallus), Jacob; six great grandchildren, Zander, Brantley, Johanna, William, August, and baby girl Knowles; brothers, William (MaryAnn) Grosz of Wahpeton, ND and Paul Grosz of Hawley, MN ; and many nieces and nephews. Annetta is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Hazel Grosz; husband, John; sister, Deloris Knowles; brothers, James, David and Ted Grosz.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM prior to the service. The service will be live-streamed and recorded on the Anderson Funeral Home website.
