Amber Lynn Rousu

November 25, 1977 — March 21, 2026

Alexandria

Amber Lynn Rousu of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away, surrounded by love, on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 48 years old. Born on November 25, 1977, the daughter of Thomas and Marilyn (Kern) Sellin, in Alexandria, she grew up in the community she loved and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1996. An outstanding athlete, Amber captained the high school tennis and track teams, demonstrating early her leadership and team spirit.

Amber earned her bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology from the University of Minnesota Morris where she also obtained her coaching certificate. She spent her teaching career at Zion Lutheran School in Alexandria. She was a beloved teacher, served as the athletic director, and coached tennis at Jefferson High School for a few years. She went above and beyond for her students, tutoring them in math and science for free. She also completed the Colloquy program to share her faith and love of Jesus. For a few years, Amber worked at the YMCA caring for children in the daycare center. Her kindness, patience, and encouragement left a lasting impact on countless young lives.

Amber’s greatest joy, however, was her family. While working at Godfather’s Pizza during her high school years, she met the love of her life, Jeff Rousu. After dating for five years, they were united in marriage on July 14, 2001, at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. She and Jeff raised four children—Marisa, Donovan, Laura, and David, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and care. Amber poured her heart into every moment of their lives. They were the center of her heart and her proudest accomplishment.

Amber’s family fondly refers to her as “Super Mom.” They remember her endless lists, her ability to organize everything and everyone, driving her children to activities, cheering them on at sports events, and the warmth she brought to their home. She is also known for her creative recipes, beloved hotdishes, and making every family trip or camping adventure unforgettable.

A devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister, whose love was unconditional, her spirit selfless, and heart full of love, will continue to live in the hearts and memories of her family, students, and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Jeff Rousu of Alexandria, her cherished children, Marisa, Donovan, Laura, and David, parents, Thomas and Marilyn Sellin of Alexandria, sister, Shari (Michael) Rolin of Alexandria, father-in-law, Don Rousu of Long Prairie, mother-in-law, Ginelle (Scot) Ashcroft of Alexandria, brother-in-law, Thaddaeus (Trish) Rousu of Big Lake, sister-in-law, Amber Mae Rousu of Alexandria, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Matthew Lorenz officiating.

A visitation will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 4-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
