One Last Ride

A celebration of life will be at the Alexandria, MN VFW post 936 on Friday Oct 2, 2026 1:30 pm to 4:30 PM.

Aldon passed away on August 8, 2026 at Alomere Hospital following a short illness.

Aldon was born on September 29, 1943 in Glenwood, MN to Kenneth and Mabel Carlson. He grew up in a few different towns as his family moved around for his dad’s job. He lived in Glenwood, Terrace, Garfield, Graceville, Wheaton, Beardsley, and Clinton. They settled in Alexandria, MN in 1969. On March 30, 1968 he was joined in marriage to Judy Zastrow from Alexandria. To this union two children were born, they were blessed with Tammy and Shawn. In 2020 his daughter Barbara Berentson was discovered and became a part of his life. Aldon and Judy lived in Alexandria until 1979 when they moved to Nelson and still reside there.

Aldon had many trades such as farming, he also worked for Herzog Roofing, worked at lumber yards, a mechanic in Parkers Prairie, in 1971 he stared working at Alexandria Extrusion (industries) as the head press operator he was with them for 27 years, following that he went to semi trucking over the road, his true love. His favorite runs were out west through the mountains and south to Texas. He retired from trucking about 5 years ago then in retirement he worked for short time at Force America.

His hobbies were snowmobiling, mowing the yard, horseback riding, and trail riding, in his later years he loved Casino runs and Pull Tabs. He also enjoyed camping and bon fires and hunting with his son and brothers-in-law.

He is survived by his wife Judy Carlson of 58+ years. His son Shawn (Maria) Carlson of Osakis. Daughter Barbara Berenton of Alexandria; Sister Roslie Athey of Lowry, Sister Sharon Hauskens of Millerville, Rick and Lori Zastrow of Miltona, Randy Zastrow of Miltona, Donna Moen of Glenwood; In laws, Galen and Carrie Huizinga, Nancy Carlson, Dawn Carlson, Janet Carlson, LouAnn Carlson, and Carol Zastrow; Grandchildren Tera Carlson (Steve Shannon) of St Cloud, Morgan (Nick) Thorson of Garfield, Paige Carlson (Donny Helfrich) of Alexandria, Nathan & Arial Young Wright of Clinton, Richie Oliver of New Ulm, and Cheyenne Oliver of New Ulm; Great Grand Children Shylo, King, Kamani, My'Leah, Averial, Michael, Cayla and Savannah.

He is preceded in Death by his parents, Kenneth and Mable Carlson; Brothers Duane Neiland, Evald, Chuck, Dale and Kenneth Carlson; Daughter Tammy Carlson; Brothers and sisters in law Jerry Zastrow, Paul and Sharyl Mohawk, Marge and Victor Roob, Russell and Jefferey Zastrow, George Athey, Frances Neiland; His father-in-law Edgar Zastrow and Wife Agness Zastrow, Step Father-in-Law, Duane Huizinga.
