Alana Marie Paavola, born July 2, 1964, in Virginia, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Alexandria on March 24, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose warm spirit and dedication to family left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Alana grew up in the Twin Cities, where she met the love of her life, Lou. Together, they shared 43 wonderful years. The couple made their home in Hoffman, Minnesota, for approximately 38 years before recently relocating to Alexandria. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Accounting from Alexandria Technical College. Alana dedicated 28 years of her career to Desman Engineering, where she served as the office manager.
She found immense joy in a variety of passions, including ice fishing, spending cherished moments at the family cabin, reading the Bible, gardening, and going on road trips with their much-loved Labradoodle, Harper. Alana was also an avid camper and enjoyed playing games, reading, and exploring the mountains—all activities that brought happiness to her life.
Alana is survived by her devoted husband, Louis of 43 years; children, Derrick (Tara Albaugh) of Bismark, North Dakota, and Paige (Ricky) Parker of Fircrest, Washington; her mother, Kallie (Dwaine) Quernemoen of Kensington, Minnesota; and her siblings, Kerry Wagner and Melissa (Pete) Bright, both of Alexandria, Minnesota, as well as Craig Paavola of Maple Grove, Minnesota. She also leaves behind her faithful dog, Harper, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry her memory forward with love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roscoe Paavola, and her sister, Traci Ann Drexl.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home.
Alana Marie Paavola’s life was a testament to kindness, strength, and unwavering love. She enriched the lives of those around her and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory continue to inspire and bring comfort in the days ahead.
Don’t be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Phillipians 4:6
