Norman Dean Yeutter was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on August 3, 1933 to Mr. Eugene J. Yeutter and Ethel A. Yeutter. Norman graduated from high school in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and attended Emmetsburg Community College where he earned an Associate of Arts Degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served two years active duty and four inactive reserve duty. He then attended the University of Minnesota. Norman ultimately returned to Alexandria where his parents had relocated to operate the Yeutter Bakery. Norman worked in the family Bakery for many years and eventually took the business over after the death of his father. He continued in the Yeutter Bakery until 1989 when the bakery closed. He then worked as a baker at Festival Foods in Alexandria until that store closed. Norman then worked as a baker at Elden’s Food Fair until he retired at age 80. Norman was an avid amateur radio operator and was active in the Runestone Amateur Radio Club where he served as trustee. He was a life member of the “American Amateur Radio League” where he had many awards of recognition for his life’s work in ham radio. He owned several dogs over the years and had a special liking for Boston Terriers.
Norman passed away peacefully at Pioneer Home under the care of Lakeland Hospice in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on December 23, 2015 at the age of 82. Norman is survived by his younger brother Philip E. Yeutter of Alexandria, Minnesota, his younger sister Kathryn A. Rossing of Iron River, Wisconsin, and his youngest brother Alan R. Yeutter of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, and his younger brother Charles E. Yeutter.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria.
