Myrene (Bitker) Hastings of Alexandria, MN, formerly of Milroy, MN, passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. Myrene was married to and survived by Wayne Hastings, her loving husband of 57 years.
Myrene loved life, sports, traveling to Hawaii and Las Vegas, and was devoted to her family. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She loved her children and especially loved her role as grandma to her 19 grandchildren. She made friends everywhere she went and always had a smile on her face. For over 30 years, Myrene worked or volunteered at Bethany by the Lake in Alexandria and it was a perfect match for her heart to help others.
Myrene is survived by her sisters-in-law Darline McKay and Carol Polfliet; brothers-in-law, Gordon Hastings and Patrick Hastings; children, Blaine (Tracy) Hastings, Blair (Candy) Hastings, Brian (Christine) Hastings, and Lisa (Scott Stanbra) Hastings; grandchildren, Stephen, Taylor, Noah, Sam, Vienna, Sierra, Justin, Jared, Josh, Zachary, Kirsten, Christopher (Fred), Dayton, Brittany, Shaunah, Jorden, Izaac, Kaitlyn, and Connor; great-grandchildren, Madison, Sawyer, and Beckham. Myrene was also loved and cherished by many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
Myrene was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth and Phylis (Holst) Bitker, and brother Dennis (Eileen) Bitker.
Please join her family in celebrating her life on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 for a visitation from 5-7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, with a Parish Prayer service beginning at 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, MN, at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 29th, 2020, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
