Michael Colwyn Williams was born on November 26, 1953, to parents, Arthur and Betty (Rayment) Williams in Haverfordwest, Wales, United Kingdom. He graduated from St. David’s Secondary School. Michael worked as a mechanic after High School.
Michael met Ramona as she was in the U.S. Navy and stationed at Brawdy Military Base in the United Kingdom. The couple was married on September 10, 1977, at the Brawdy Chapel at Pembrokeshire South Wales. Michael got an around the world tour with Ramona as her spouse. The couple was blessed with two sons, Gareth born in 1978 and Marty born in 1989. After Romana retired from the Navy in 1993, the family moved to Glenwood and Michael worked for a time as a dispatcher for Pope County. Romana died in 2003, and Michael moved to Alexandria where he lived for a time at Viking Towers, the Trinity House and then settled in the Castlewood House where he received help with his MS. Michael continued to work helping with the Alexandria Opportunity Center.
Michael enjoyed fishing, spending time with family, watching movies and listening to music. Michael also was a huge Atlanta Braves fan, which made a house divided, especially when the Twins and Braves played in the 1991 World Series.
Michael died on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at his home at the age 65. He is survived by his sons, Gareth Williams of Glenwood, and Marty (fiancé, Miranda Grussing) Williams of Benson; grandchildren, Raelyn, Fiona, Britta, and Brynnlee; sister, Susan Anderson of Hastings, East Sussex; and nephews, nieces, and cousins. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Betty; and wife, Ramona.
A Funeral Service will be held 6:00 PM on Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Marilee Bergerson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
