Eva Mae was born September 3rd, 1928, the second of three children born to E. Carl and D. Rose (Berry) Simpson. Eva attended rural school and graduated from Graceville High School. She received her three-year Registered Nursing diploma from Eidel Hosptial in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1949. Thus started a 55-year nursing career that included operating room, emergency room triage, home health care, and CPR training.

After nursing school, Eva moved to Arizona where she met Claudio Strazzabosco. She and Claudio married on November 19, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan. Following Claudio’s discharge from the Air Force, they returned to the states where they lived in Arizona and later in California.

Eva loved to cook and, for a time, she and Claudio owned an elite restaurant in Port Costa, California called the Bull Valley Inn. She loved to golf and ski. Her good friend, Bob Lively, would often accompany her on trips to the links and to the mountains. She also loved Beagles. Her last Beagle, Buddy, was arguably her favorite.

She moved back to Minnesota in the mid-1990s to be closer to family. She owned a small farm near Brandon, Minnesota and during the winter, she could be found at the Andes Tower Hills ski resort helping out wherever she was needed.

Eva was preceded in death by former spouse Claudio Strazzabosco and good friend Bob Lively. She is survived by her brothers Ervin Simpson of Wheaton, Minnesota, and Gene Simpson of Alexandria; and by many nieces and nephews.

On Thursday, February 21st, Eva Mae Simpson passed away at the age of 90 at Alomere Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota. Services will be held at Saint Marys Catholic Church in Alexandria on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11 AM with a reviewal at 10 AM.
