David Lawrence Fahlin was born on November 6, 1935 at the family farm in Solem Township. He was the son of Herman and Gladys Fahlin. He attended local grade school and graduated from Ag School in Morris.
He was united in marriage to Eleanor Turnquist on October 16, 1954 at the Farwell Lutheran Church. He enlisted in the army and was stationed in Newport News, Virginia. During their time in Virginia Katrina and Randy were born. After completing his military service, the young family moved to Rochester, Minnesota where Jolee was born.
David bought a local gas station and automotive repair business in Farwell, Minnesota. This experience prepared him for a career with United Parcel Service. During his career the family moved multiple times with David improving each home with remodeling projects. He retired from UPS in 1974 and returned to the family farm.
David farmed and milked dairy cows. He had much pride in the family farm and its history. He served on the township board for many years and was active in the Oscar Lake Lutheran church. David enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, restoring tractors and working at Lowry Manufacturing.
David died on Friday June 14, 2019 at the family farm with family in attendance. He is survived by his children Katrina (J.J.), Randy (Cheri) and Jolee (Ron) and sister Virginia. He had 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanor, grandson Steve and brother Floyd.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 5:00 -7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, 2:30 PM at Oscar Lake Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Oscar Lake Cemetery.
