Welcome to the memorial page for

Dale Arvid Dvorsak

September 8, 1944 ~ January 9, 2018 (age 73)

Dale Arvid Dvorsak was born September 8, 1944 in Glenwood, MN, the son of Roy and Christine (Kalina) Dvorsak.  He grew up in Glenwood where he graduated from high school. Following his schooling Dale worked at various jobs.

In 1965 Dale entered the armed services. He served in the United States Army until 1967. Dale was trained as a radio technician and was primarily stationed in Thailand. Following his discharge Dale returned to Minnesota where he met Sandra Porter. Following a five year engagement, Dale and Sandra were united in marriage on September 1, 1972 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Alexandria. They were blessed with two children through adoption, Evan in 1981 and Elyse in 1986.

Dale began working for the US Postal Service and became the “swing” carrier; he knew all of the routes out of the Alexandria post office. If you mentioned your name to him he could usually tell you your address. Dale and Sandra built a home on Carneva Acres in the late 1970s and he resided there until September 2017. Dale retired from the postal service in 2000.

Dale was interested in clockworks and taught himself how to make and fix clocks. He operated a small business repairing clocks and pocket watches. He also kept busy with woodworking projects and making fish decoys. Dale collected antique guns and liked to attend gun shows.

Dale was an outdoorsman. He liked spending time hunting and fishing. He especially liked hunting grouse. Dale made several trips to the far north in Canada with his father and friends to go fishing. His favorite fishing time was the winter. Taking his family camping on a cross country trip or staying closer to home was an adventure. His favorite campgrounds were Carlos and Itasca State Parks.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2018 Dale died at the age of seventy-three years. He is survived by his son, Evan Dvorsak and wife, Sarah, of Viroqua, WI; daughter, Elyse Marie Greene and husband, Robert, of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Willa and Loyal Dvorsak; and sister, Annette Brosh of Lowry, MN.
