Shirley Fischer

Shirley Jean Fischer (Vangstad), age 82 of Osakis, MN went to be with the Lord on Sunday May 7th, 2017. Shirley was born in Osakis, Minnesota to Ole and Julia (Halvorson) Vangstad on March 7th, 1935. She was raised on a farm as the second-youngest of fourteen children.

Shirley moved to Minneapolis after she married Harold Dormanen. They divorced in 1966 and Shirley married Jim Fischer in 1968 and they later moved to Eveleth, MN in 1977 where she held various restaurant hosting positions. Shirley was very active in the local bowling leagues.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Fischer, and her first husband, Harold Dormanen. She is survived by her five children, sons, Steve Olson and wife, Vicki, of New Richmond, WI, Craig Dormanen and wife, Theresa, of Coon Rapids, MN, and daughters, Kim Turner and husband, Tom, of St Paul, MN, Penny Hed and husband, Dave, of Fergus Falls, MN and Ellen Lund and husband, Chris, of Brooklyn Center, MN; fourteen grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two of her sisters, Sylvia Johnson and Gloria Didier, and a brother, Orville Vangstad

A memorial service will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 2, 2017 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. Reverend Jerry Lanes will officiate.
