William Langner

November 9, 1948 — October 21, 2014

William “Bill” Langner was born on November 9, 1948 in Wadena, Minnesota. He attended Paynesville High School and graduated in 1966. He furthered his education in Duluth receiving his Associates Degree.
Bill was united in marriage to Arlana Mayer on October 20, 1967 in Paynesville, Minnesota. Bill worked for eleven years in Anoka for FMC and the Anoka Co. Courthouse and then moved to Little Falls where he worked for Larson Abstract for five years.
On January 2, 1986, Bill and Arlana purchased Douglas County Abstract Company and the family moved to Alexandria. He and Arlana worked side by side for many years and later on their children joined them.
Bill will be remembered as a true family man. He loved spending time with his family whether he and Arlana were taking their kids camping, fishing or sightseeing. They were together enjoying each other and the outdoors. Later on they shared these and many more experiences with their grandchildren who Bill cherished. They took a variety of trips such as Disneyland, motorhoming to Paul Bunyan Land and other adventures. Grandpa was in charge of making breakfast and getting ready to scurry off to the next destination. He truly put smiles on all the faces of his grandchildren.
Bill and Arlana also enjoyed traveling to other countries with friends, going four wheeling and snowmobiling. He loved the simple things in life like just tinkering at the farm, ice fishing, hunting and watching football and NASCAR.
Bill died on Tuesday, October 21, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Arlana; children: Carl (Nancy) of Hastings, Paul (Tami) of Alexandria, Jennifer Cavers of Alexandria; grandchildren: Nate, Katelyn and Nicholas Langner; Eddie and Mason Thorson, Jolene Langner; Wyatt, Colton and Jackson Cavers and extended Hopfer and Langner family.
He was preceded in death by Rosie Hopfer; his foster parents: Leonard & Lauretta Hopfer; sisters: Geraldine & Thelma.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
