Jerome Loehlein

Jerome Albert Loehlein was born on September 6, 1931 in Albany, Minnesota to John and Anna (Geltl) Loehlein. As a young boy the family moved to Sauk Centre and lived on Sauk Lake. Jerry graduated from Sauk Centre High School. He moved to Minneapolis and went to work for Braniff Airlines as a mechanic. Jerome served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.

Jerry married Elois Fisher on June 4, 1955, in Rockford, IL at St. Edwards Catholic Church. The couple lived in the Minneapolis area where Jerry went back to work with Braniff Airlines. The company was sold multiple times and Jerry continued working as an aircraft mechanic until retiring from Northwest Airlines in 1988. The couple then moved to Lake Reno where he loved being by the lake. Jerry's favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.
Jerry died on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Elois of Alexandria; son, Jeff Loehlein of Hastings; daughter, Kay (Charles) Chapman of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Amy (Eli) Miller of North St. Paul and Andrea (Travis) Schilling of Stillwater; great-grandson, Miles Schilling; siblings, Albert Loehlein of Anoka, Ositha Rupert of Virginia, MN, Magdalene Stellor of Dallas, TX, Eleanor Holesovsky of Dayton, OH, Luella Dols of Virginia, MN and Joan Bruggenthies of Blaine; sisters-in-law, Shirley Bombard and Joyce Schlupp both of Rockford, IL and Betty Fischer of Iowa City, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Jerome is preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; siblings, Veronica Anderson, Bernadine Gillies and Edward Loehlein.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Memorials preferred to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria or a charity of your choice.
