Carole Snobeck

November 13, 1923 — November 21, 2014

Carole Lois (Flake) Snobeck was born on November 13, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN to Leo and Corinne (Carlson) Flake. She attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis through the eleventh grade.

Carole was united in marriage to Donald Snobeck on November 13, 1942 in Golden, CO. After their marriage Carole lived with Donald’s parents for a couple of years as Donald was in the military. When Donald returned from the military in 1945 the couple moved to South Minneapolis where they started a family and were blessed with two children, Steve and Dawn. Carole worked at a drug store and then in 1952, the couple moved to Richfield. She later had many different jobs and was president of the Ladies Auxiliary in Richfield. She also was a Sunday School teacher at Woodlake Lutheran Church. After retirement Carole and Donald started to nanny for two different families. She also started a catering service that she and her daughter, Dawn did together.

Carole also volunteered at Arc’s Value Village to raise money for people with developmental disabilities for 18 years. Carole would have loved to have volunteered there longer, but due to the fact she never drove a car and Donald was no longer able to drive she needed to quit. She loved writing poetry and wrote many inspirational poems. She enjoyed making goodies, decorating and buying Christmas presents for the grandchildren. Carole really loved making Christmas special, especially for the grandchildren.

Carole died on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Knute Nelson in Alexandria at the age of 91. She is survived by her son, Steven Snobeck of Bloomington; daughter, Dawn (Ray) Voit of Alexandria; grandchildren, Kristin (Michael) Mohs of Sabin, Amy (Brian) Schulte of St. Joe, James Dyrdahl of Alexandria, Irene (Tom) Snobeck of Chaska, and many great-grandchildren; brother, John “Denny” (Lois) Firehammer of Park Rapids; sister, Sharon (Tom) Barsness of Cross Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
